There are programs for mothers living in the state of Wisconsin to make life a little easier. Helping to pay for basic necessities which all of us need. The state and the Government both have multiple programs set up for those that are in need.
Food and Staples: We all know that food is probably the number one thing a family needs help with in this day and age. Cost of supplies are expensive, but through FoodShare Wisconsin, single moms have been able to qualify through the tribal agency for healthy and nutritious food for their families. Those who are low enough income can apply by visiting the website.
Childcare: For moms looking for help taking care of their children so they can work to pay bills, The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families can be an extremely valuable resource. Their website offers information on where to get guidelines for eligibility as well as who qualifies.
Health Care: A valuable aid to single mothers in Wisconsin needing health care is Medicaid. This is for mothers who do not have insurance through a job, and for those with low income. For those who do not qualify, the BadgerCarePlus program can be an alternative. This is a Government funded program which cares for kids under the age of 19. They also accept all income levels.
Education: Some single mothers would like to go to school but may not be able to afford a full cost scholarship for college on their own. That is ok because the (HEAB), also known as the Higher Education Aids Board offers financial aid. In order to qualify you must have a High school diploma or GED, and be a resident of Wisconsin, be enrolled in an undergraduate degree or certificate program, and be attending a non-profit college or university based in Wisconsin.
Housing: Through the HUD and State of Wisconsin there are also programs for renting and buying a house for single moms. The department of commerce lists all the programs available. Even moderate income families can many times qualify.
Transportation: Still one of the best ways for a single parent to get around is through carpooling, but the state of Wisconsin also has a decent public transportation system in the larger cities. You can find out the routes and pickup times here.
