Pell Grants For Single Mothers

Whether you live in Houston Texas or in Miami Florida, raising a child as a single mom is tough. Getting grants to be able to make a better life for a family requires time and effort. In many cases moms have to go back to school, or start a new college degree to improve their monthly income. This is where a Pell grant can come into play.
What is a Pell grant? It is a need based grant that is usually between $400 and $5000 which is provided to those who are eligible because of financial hardship. The first step in getting on is to file an application with Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Once this is done then the following grants may be applied for. Starting with the Academic Competitive Grant (ACG) which is a merit based grant. This is however given to second and third year college students who have excelled academically. For first year students an ACG grant is about $750 dollars. A second year student can receive $1300.
Another type of grant for those seeking opportunity is the National SMART (Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent) which is available to 3rd and fourth year students. This too is based on merit and can be as much as $4000.

It’s difficult enough being a single mom with all the extra bills and food and payments you have to make just to stay afloat, but did you know there may be some assistance for you for heating and cooling your home? Those utilities can get very expensive.
Most likely the quickest way for you to find out if you can get energy assistance is to contact your local utility company. They will most likely know what programs are available at the present time.

Rhode Island Assistance Programs

If you live in Providence or Warwick and need cash assistance as a single mom, don’t give up. Perhaps you would like to get some college training and need free grant money, food or utility bill help. There are still federal and state programs, as well as other ideas listed here that may help you.
CASH- If this is the first time you have had to consider getting additional help, don’t feel bad. All of us at one time or another needed help. The economy is difficult. Financial Assistance for Single Moms in Montana – Grants, Loans

Do you feel alone and wonder how you are going to make ends meet? Whether you are currently living in a big city like Great Falls, Missoula or Billings you may or may not be aware of the assistance available to you from the state and federal government for grant money, food and cash assistance.
